Each artifact offers a glimpse into the skills, beliefs, customs, and daily experiences of communities, providing an educational and memorable journey through Uganda’s rich cultural heritage while encouraging appreciation and preservation of these important treasures for future generations.

LUO CULTURE

LUO CULTURE

This kind of house represents the life of Luo culture people the way they leave their livies.

They build in oval form and in side there is no any room the space is kept normal.

They keep all house utensils in side the house.

They sleep down in ground or floor on papyrus mat.

When they produce a child, he or she must make 8years and is shifted to another house according to there culture.

They build small houses around the main house because of separating younger one’s a above 8 to 10 years from there parents. And according to this culture they do believe traditionally that some one above 10 yrs is mature he or she can start work and can take care of home. Traditionally a girl who was above 10 years to this culture she was able to get married.

THE BANYANKOLE CULTURE.

The banyankole culture they are some times called westerners depending on there regional area where they stay, in Mbarara, Busenyi, Ntugamo, and all parts of western region.

According to there way of life, they are cattle keepers and they rear specific type of animals called Nyankole cows which a brown in colour with long and grew horned cattle.

They mostly depend on milk cheese, yogurt for food

They like naming  their animals names like kyoozi, rugazuu(male) gaazu (female) kagazuu(younger female one) Ruyenze,kayeeze etc which enables identification of there animals.

They speak ntu language because the are Bantu people they migrated from Bunyoro ,Rwanda and Burundi.

The build oval houses and in side there is a room which separates the house. On the house they don’t put the door and its always open through out.

They build the animal crural (Orugo rwentee) just five meters from the main ova house.

When it comes to marriage, they just grab a woman in case a ready boy wants to marry.

Traditionally it was believed that this lady brought in the home could serve the whole family men when it comes to sex however the regional leaders have tirelessly fought this type of character.

They do pay a lot of cows as a form of dowry for marriage.

They are hospitable and loving people in community.

There collection include the byanzi (carambas) Ekwanzi, walking stick(emikdo,enkooni)etc.

They like walking with the tick on there solders and currently they are most prominent and educated people possessing heigh post in the ruling government because unity is their lead.

THE BANYORO CULTURE

BANYORO CULTURE.

The Banyoro culture lead a life deeply rooted in tradition and community. they build in rectangle form as its seen above,in side the house had rooms like seating room, masters bed room for kids and store. naturely Bunyoro house composes at list three rooms.

The traditional way of life banyoro live in organized community with series of work which helped them to survive.

The banyoro culture used to participate in pottery work at home using clay soil, this was good because of its germ and elasticity.

They used to melt stones known as iron smelting where they could manufacture different tools at home like cutters, axe, hoe to be use in the garden. By doing this Banyoro could grow a lot of crops such as cash crops for money and food crops for food and they had all.

Around the home they could construct the granary to keep food to be eaten in time of sacristy .i.e. the region like Bunyoro had two seasons both wet and hot season.  They were known for their strong sense of community, respect for tradition, and vibrant cultural heritag     The Banyoro people value family, respect, and harmony with nature, and their culture continues to influence modern lifestyles while preserving age-old customs.                                                                      The Banyoro language, Nyoro, is spoken by the people, and their traditional economy revolved around big game hunting, but today they are agriculturalists who cultivate a variety of crops and livestock.      The Banyoro are also known for their lively cultural practices, such, dance, music storytelling, which are integral to their identity and way of life.

NYAMYARO HOUSE.

This is where all kingdom essential equipment’s are kept and it’s a palace were the king used to hold all his meetings.in tradition culture and nature of the king doom it signifies a lot to Bunyoro culture because every thing in side has a lot of presentation and meaning full fact on Bunyoro culture

Nyamyaro it’s the royal palace of kings of Bunyoro. this house its conserves and showcases and also promotes the human heritage and ancient regalia of the kings of Bunyoro for education and tourism. The main objective inside of nyamyaro is the throne of the Omukama focusing on metallurgy in the region.

Theses are drums.

In the palace they purposed for

1. Communication

when the king is meeting his officials in the palace, they used to dram them as away of calling them.

2. Celebrating.

When ever there is a ceremony in palace they dram them showing joy and love for the king and this is always seconded with food and drinks.

3.meaning messages while they are in the council the king could beat as away of sending out a message to his officials .

4. they represent the culture because some of the clans in the kingdom its is their totem.

STOLE

This chair belonged to the king or its kings’ seat. And he used to seat on the different animal skins that he had killed with his hand and this presented his strength.

Kings liked a lot gifts from there chief dooms and actually

So those baskets are there to keep the collection the chiefs and guests have brought to the king.

Its made out of clay soil with two month which represent  unity in the palace and it is stressed from tradition culture of utensils our grand parents use to be with at home.

It plays a big important role in our family especially in monogamous families it’s there to unite two wives at home.

And it was the sign of unity a king could pour a drink to his best friend in the palace as a way of thanks and kindness a king could give to his servants.

WONDER TREE

This wonder tree poses wonders other which can call supper natural power because of its ancestral spirits it has. Where did it get this supper natural powers,

Long time ago kings were monogamous meaning he could marry every beautiful woman in every community and when time come for him to die, they could burry them with the live woman in the fact that he should not get bored in the grave.

Kenyange the mother of king kabale known as nyamutahingrwa coming from congo the village called lega where name come called kabalega a nick name. His real name was john chwa. So, when the father died kamurasi chwa they had a plan to burry him with the mother of kabalega since she was a Congolese her chance of letting her free was very minimal. Nyamutehigrwa after realizing what they are planning for her she runs away and come to this place katasiha. And while she was in this palace/village the Barusura got information and gathered to trap her but as she had a strong supper natura power or spirits she was informed of wat was going on, the barusura approached the tree and all them become stranded and she disappeared in the tree. that’s why this place is called katasiha from the word kutata meaning investigating and finding out.

This wonder tree or omujunalira comes from the word omujuni meaning the helper thus this tree heals the  following.
